Ex-ECSU student charged in beating

WILLIMANTIC — A former Eastern Connecticut State University student turned himself in to police this morning to face charges resulting from a brutal beating that took place in September, police said.
Matthew Irvine, 19, of 15 Settlers Trail, Stamford, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence.

Consumers who have purchased frozen ground beef over the past few weeks in Connecticut from Trader Joe’s, Shaw’s, BJ’s Warehouse or Price Chopper should look on the package for the code that would indicate if it’s part of the recalled batch.
